As per class today, I have linked the FRQ question that I would like you to go through. You ONLY NEED to do part b, c, and d. The first link is the question, and the second link is the grading rubric/key. Please go through the question and then check your answer. After having gone through the “Using Math in Environmental Science” worksheets in class or on your own, and having completed the posted FRQ with scoring rubric; please go to the sidebar on the right and do the quick survey as to your comfort level with this sort of problem, (the math aspect).? Please respond to the survey by Sunday night.

Whoa! I threw a curveball accidentally...
OK, after looking at the last practice problems I posted, and talking with you, I think we need to backtrack a little. For those of you who were able to solve them, or took the time to work through them, great job! For those that were left scratching their heads, don't worry! Many of those were tough due to the multiple conversions and unit changes needed. My fault on jumping into the fast lane right away.
I have included another set of problems linked below. This will give a more realistic approach to the kinds of single and double conversions/scientific notation you need to be able to do. I would be more than happy to go through any sticking points you have on this sheet next week (before school, lunch, after school, etc.). Please work through the problems in the link below and be ready to discuss by the end of next week.
The problems are due Next Thursday/Friday.
Using Math in Environmental Science
Reminder: If you have not responded to the "Silencing Science" Blog post you still need to do so! I will still accept responses if posted over the weekend.
We will be testing chapter 12 the end of next week (Thursday/Friday)
Reminder: March 13-14 (Depending upon A or B day) is when the alternative Energy Projects are due.

Silencing Science
Please read the following article from Smithsonian.com linked below. I have also linked a follow up article that may help with some background information. Questions below (a blog response).
Canadian Scientists Explain Exactly
How Their Government Silenced Science
What is the public's role in ensuring that correct and factual scientific information is available to the general public AND the governing bodies that set regulations and laws?
What is the public's role in holding governing bodies accountable in the use of current factual scientific data in making decisions?
You must be post a response/comment no later than Sunday 2/12 by 11:59 pm
